My Novel

Finished the first draft of my novel on Oct 8th (a year ago) and am now engaged in the first rewrite.  Still no title, but I do have a working title.  Will announce it later.

There is now a title:  Meg’s Dance

Coming Back!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to update this blog.  Chalk it up to technology and a well-worn, yet marvelous, computer.  My friend is very old and saving itself for the most necessary items.  We’re trying to prolong its life.

The new iPad has been helpful, but it’s just not the same–though I do love it!  Soon all will be back to normal.  There will be a new look to the website <> , the newsletter will be back, the sock knitter site will be back up, and smiles will be plentiful.

I’m headed back to Cleveland, OH next week for some more work and when I get back to VA I’ll be working for the Elections Board.  (Thank my sister for giving me the idea.  It’s fun.)  Call if you are interested in bringing me in for some guest artist work.  There’s still a couple openings in the spring for residencies.  Youngstown State University and Slippery Rock University were both delightful last month.  There’s a lot going on in the Ohio/Pennsylvania area.

Will submit some more images with my next post.  Still have not settled on an image for the painting I’m going to do.  But have some ideas.

Will see if I can get some video up on all my pages/sites.  There’s a lot going on and it’s difficult keeping up with everything.  The company is beginning to use its new name, Kista Tucker Insights, Inc.  Get ready for the big blast introducing it!  And, the dancers are busy learning repertory, some new work, and getting ready for our Kennedy Center performance.  Things are beginning to take form for the Kista Tucker Insights, Inc. PTSD Benefit Concert.  We’re working on a title for the production.  Also, if you know a big name star who you think might be interested in performing, let us know.  If you have ideas, let us know.  And, we’re about to launch the 2012 fund raising drive. There’s more, but will save it for the newsletter.

The plot for the novel I’m writing is nearly complete.  Still need to give some more attention to character development, but that will be fun.  I have so many wonderful ideas.  Wish they could all work come to fruition.

Don’t forget to vote!

–But I should be back here before election day, Nov. 6.

Another Try At A Painting

Am still working on creating a painting for my home.  Even went so far as to check up on canvas, stretchers, and/or their equivalents.  Need to get the most bang for my modest  buck.  Here’s a beginning idea.  The background is too dark, so I will work to make it feel like the flowers are at the beach, not in the swamp.  I want this painting to be uplifting, not dreary!  Pansies?  Buttercups?  Petunias?  -Definitely not roses!  Tan or white sandy beach?  Don’t know…   Maybe I’ll add a rock.  Oh well, this image will be transformed into something a bit more cheery.

I’m going to work on the image some more and probably change what is now uploaded.  Catch it while you can!

In Case You Were Wondering…

Our 2012 Summer Intensive in Ohio was one of the best and we’re making plans to do it again next year, 3rd week of July in 2013 and we will celebrate our 5th anniversary with the same faculty.

Both participants and faculty left this year’s workshop filled with an even greater love and understanding of this thing we call dance. We gained more freedom, more control, and an enhanced sense of self in movement.  We had long, full days of classes and performed at the end of the summer intensive.  We met new people and re-acquainted ourselves with long-time friends.  We created new works and enhanced old ones.  We tried to solve all of the world’s “dance” problems in the Issues In Dance class, but alas, as you might have guessed, there were too many.  The ones we did cover were important and relevant to those in attendance.

We don’t teach just the steps.  We share the how, what, why, and where of movement.  Subtitles, intent, inner, outer, efficiency, attitude, honesty, and longevity are some of the terms that come to mind when I think back to what we covered during this event.  Some participants even completed the Intro to Bartenieff Fundamentals™ prerequisite toward a Certified Movement Analyst program.  It’s a rich program.

Things will be busy between now and next summer.  There’s going to be a lot of dancing–that includes classes, rehearsals, workshops, and performances getting us ready to take the next leap.  Each and every year our summer intensives become more and more insightful with ways and means of revealing and attaining our goals in dance/life.

I thank everyone involved in this effective project; YOU make it thrive.

Our Summer Intensives truly are great experiences!

A New Painting

I’m working on creating a new painting for our living room.  Here’s what I’ve come up with as of this moment.  Will keep working.  It’s not at all what I had in mind when I started, but I kind of like it.  Also, wanted a large (5′ x 5′) square image and this is rectangular.  Acrylics on canvas.  Hmmmm….  I’m sure it will look a bit different after I’ve painted it, but at least this is a good sketch.

It looked more vibrant before I uploaded it just now.  That can be fixed when I use real paint.

Will continue trying new ideas.

About to leave for my summer intensive in Ohio.  Things are stacking up in such a way that I’m really looking forward to the many aspects involved in a workshop of this nature.  Also, some good friends will be there and we’re going to have a blast!

While in that area of the country (literally), I’m going to do a few mini stops before and after the workshop so that I get to visit family and more friends.

There are so many things to look forward to.  I can hardly wait.

Also, just learned that I have to figure out what KTd, Inc.(AKA KTInsights) will perform May 11, 2013 at the Kennedy Center.  Light Plot and other info for publicity and marketing are needed by the Kennedy Center ASAP–right when I’m about to embark on an intensive week of teaching, choreographing, directing, and sharing in so many ways. Phew!
